The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued a report for users on Thursday regarding Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has been sending an in-app notification to its users about its updated terms of service and privacy policy since Tuesday. According to the notification, users need to accept the new policy by February 8 or will lose access to the app.
The TRA posted a notice on its social media accounts that read, ”The page that currently appears to WhatsApp users is an update on the terms of the Privacy Policy that regulate the operation of the application and must be approved by those who wish to continue using the application”.
The latest policy updates affect WhatsApp’s service and how the company processes users’ data. It also alters the way businesses can use Facebook-owned services to store and manage their WhatsApp chats.
