Dubai Police have introduced a new feature on their smartphone app that will alert road users when there are temporary road closures or serious accidents.
Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al-Razouki, Director General of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police said that the feature will support the traffic system in the emirate and notify drivers of traffic accidents as soon as they occur.
The latest feature on the app aims to improve traffic flow and reduce overcrowding on the roads by allowing drivers to use alternative routes, should an accident or halt occur nearby. People will also be notified about street closure for official events and holidays, allowing them to avoid unnecessary delays.
Brigadier Khalid said, “Providing the community with smart solutions reflects Dubai Police’s keenness to achieve the strategic objectives of the government to transform Dubai into a smart city”. The Dubai Police app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is also about to enter the world of AI to manage the overcrowded and improve the passenger experience on the city’s metro network. The AI and stimulators that are now in their trial stage are being used to streamline the use of the metro system. The gathered data will be used to understand both driver and passenger habits and help with crowd management on metro trains and platforms, especially during peak hours and during special events.
