The social media conglomerate corporation Facebook finally announced that the company is all set to sell its Ray-ban branded AR Smart glasses next year. These will be the first pair of consumer “smart glasses” that will be releasing next, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced during the all-virtual Facebook Connect conference. Well, for now, the company has not made public the features the device will have, but Facebook has established that the device will be closer to a little like Snap Spectacles or maybe Amazon’s Echo Frames.
It will be the first step of Facebook towards the smart glasses and on AR work, which now includes an experimental investigation prototype calling Project Aria, which is more like a full-fledged duo of AR glasses.
The social media American company Facebook has talked about this technology for years, and this year the company is ready to start its plans to build AR devices. The corporation is now working with Ray-Ban maker EssilorLuxottica to create the frames of its primary consumer smart glasses, validating rumors last fall that the company had joined with the Italian eyewear product.
As per reports, Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s vice president of the Reality Labs division, said in a statement that- “We’re passionate about exploring devices that can give people better ways to connect with those closest to them. Wearables have the potential to do that. With EssilorLuxottica, we have an equally ambitious partner who’ll lend their expertise and world-class brand catalog to the first truly fashionable smart glasses”.
The AR and smart glasses usually are designed to look like standard pieces of eyewear have become more widespread in current years, with companies developing pretty outstanding devices. In the meantime, all the leading tech giants including Apple, Amazon, Intel, Google, and others, are continuously working on smart AR devices. In the upcoming years, we will witness that every company will come up with smart glasses.
Through these AR-based glasses, the company is going to make its road to the latest technology. Facebook says with the Ray-ban brand, the company incorporate core technologies into a usual glasses form feature and see how folks like them. Present the Project Aria team of Facebook is experimenting with the eyewear.
In a press release, the company has not revealed the particular features of the glasses so far. Also, there are no details yet about its price, software capabilities, name, or how precisely it’s going to appear. For now, only a short video clip was shared related to these smart glasses. As we know that Menlo Park, California based Facebook has always been clear in its work on Augmented Reality work. Whether the company’s fresh consumer smart glasses will become a complete AR device is so far to be known. It will be interesting to see that features the Facebook Project Aria team will add in these pair of glasses.
